NFF Referees' Committee Steps Down Four Over Misconduct

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) Refereeing Development Unit has stepped down some Referee Assessors and Referees for misconduct, BSNSports.com.ng reports. 

This was contained in a memo jointly signed by Mohammed Ameenu and Ejimofor Chuwudi, National Publicity Secretary, Nigeria Football Referees Association.

They warned all referees and assistant referees in all cadres of the league to avoid placing personal interests above the laws of the game. 

The memo reads: "After glaring arbitrary decisions that have no recourse to any part of the Laws of the Game given the incidences that occurred, the under-listed Referees/Assistant Referees are 

herewith stepped down outrightly from all Refereeing activities.

They include:

i. Okolosi Isaiah Owohede (ED) - Referee, Smart City FC vs Edel FC (NNL Matchday 1).

ii. Johnson Ikechukwu R. (RV) - AR

 1, Giant Brillars vs Ikorodu United (NNL Matchday 1).

iii. Ogben Kindek (CR).

- Referee, Bayelsa Queens vs Ekiti Queens (Matchday 2)

iv. Ayem Joy (BN).

-Referee, Nasarawa Amazons vs Heartland Queens (NWFL

Matchday 2).

"Actions displayed by these Referees/Assistant Referees and decisions therefrom are clear displays of impunity and the NFF Refereeing Development Committee/Department will not tolerate or accommodate such misconducts that brings the game and refereeing generally into disrepute.

"All Referees and Assistant Referees in all cadres of the League system are thus, warned to avoid placing personal opinions or interests above the dictates of the Laws of the game."
