Nigeria Football Federation has confirmed the appointments of Abdu Maikaba and Eboboritse Uwejamomere as head coaches of Nigeria’s U20 and U17 boys’ national teams respectively, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

The appointments were approved by the Federation’s Executive Committee following recommendations from the Technical and Development Committee.

Maikaba has been named head coach of the Nigeria national under-20 football team, popularly known as the Flying Eagles. The experienced tactician returns to the national team setup after previously serving as assistant coach of the side during Paul Aigbogun’s tenure. He also previously handled the Nigeria national under-17 football team, the Golden Eaglets.

Widely respected in domestic football circles, Maikaba has managed several top Nigerian clubs, including Enyimba FC, Wikki Tourists FC, Kano Pillars FC and Plateau United FC. He is perhaps best remembered for guiding Akwa United FC to victory in the 2017 Federation Cup, one of the country’s most prestigious domestic competitions.

Meanwhile, Uwejamomere has been appointed head coach of the Golden Eaglets, Nigeria’s five-time FIFA U17 World Cup-winning side.

The newly appointed coach brings extensive technical and analytical experience to the role, having served for several years as a coach-analyst with the Nigeria national football team, the Super Eagles. He has also worked with the Nigeria women's national football team, the Super Falcons.

Uwejamomere currently serves as head of academy at Sporting Lagos FC and previously held youth development roles in England with Millwall FC, Gillingham FC and Nottingham Forest FC. He also worked as head coach of Abeokuta-based Stormers FC.

The appointments are part of the federation’s ongoing efforts to strengthen Nigeria’s youth football structure and sustain the country’s tradition of success at international youth competitions.
