NFF To Propose Statute Amendments At Annual General Assembly in Ibadan

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) is set to present proposed amendments to its statutes and governing regulations at the 81st Annual General Assembly, scheduled to hold this Saturday in Ibadan, Oyo State, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

This development was confirmed in an official statement released by the Federation on Wednesday, outlining the agenda and expected dignitaries at the high-level gathering of football stakeholders across the country.

The AGA will take place at the Emeritus Professor Theophilus Ogunlesi Hall, opposite the University College Hospital, Orita-Mefa, and will be declared open by the Governor of Oyo State, Engineer Oluseyi Abiodun Makinde.

Top government officials and sports administrators expected at the event include the Chairman of the National Sports Commission, Mallam Shehu Dikko; the Commission’s Director General, Hon. Bukola Olopade; Chairman of the Senate Committee on Sports, Senator Abdul Ningi; and the Chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on Sports, Hon. Kabiru Amadu. Former NFF President and ex-FIFA/CAF Executive Member, Mr. Amaju Melvin Pinnick, is also expected to attend.

Other notable invitees include former NFF 1st Vice President, Barr. Seyi Akinwunmi, as well as former General Secretaries Ambassador Fanny Amun and Dr. Bolaji Ojo-Oba.

The General Assembly, which serves as the NFF’s highest decision-making body, brings together chairmen and secretaries of all 36 State Football Associations and the Federal Capital Territory, as well as members of the NFF Executive Committee, management, representatives of domestic leagues, the Nigeria Referees Association, Coaches Association, and Players’ Union.

In his opening address to the plenary, NFF President Ibrahim Musa Gusau (MON) is expected to outline the Federation’s recent achievements and roadmap. This will be followed by a report from the General Secretary, Dr. Mohammed Sanusi, detailing the secretariat’s activities over the past year.

Key items on the agenda include:

Presentation and approval of the Federation’s financial statements and balance sheet;

Approval of the annual budget;

Admission of new members (if applicable);

Deliberation and voting on proposed amendments to the NFF Statutes, regulations governing the standing orders, and the standing orders of the General Assembly;

Appointment of an independent auditor; Consideration of proposals submitted by members or the Executive Committee; Possible dismissals of individuals or bodies, if warranted.

The assembly is expected to provide a crucial platform for strategic policy and governance decisions that will shape the future of Nigerian football, especially in relation to transparency, financial accountability, and institutional reform.
