The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) Refereeing Development Committee has suspended referee Yakubu Adamu indefinitely from all league and football-related activities following his performance in the Nigeria Premier Football League clash between Rangers and Bendel Insurance, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

According to the committee, the sanction takes immediate effect after the referee awarded a penalty during the match which was deemed inconsistent with the provisions of the Laws of the Game.

The controversial decision led to a goal and was said to have significantly influenced the outcome of the encounter.

The committee further stated that the referee’s action brought the game into disrepute, prompting the disciplinary measure against the match official.

The NFF reiterated its commitment to maintaining professionalism, fairness and integrity in football officiating across the country.
