Rasheedat Ajibade continued her standout form at the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON), earning the Woman of the Match award for the second time in the tournament following Nigeria’s emphatic 5–0 victory over Zambia on Friday, BSNSports.com.ng reports.
The Super Falcons captain played a pivotal role in the quarterfinal clash at the Stade Larbi Zaouli, registering two assists in a performance that highlighted her leadership and creative prowess.
The 25-year-old teed up Esther Okoronkwo for Nigeria’s second goal in the 33rd minute, delivering a perfectly timed pass to double the Falcons’ lead. Ajibade then capped her performance with another assist in stoppage time, setting up Folashade Ijamilusi for the fifth and final goal of the game.
This marks the second Woman of the Match award for the former Atlético Madrid star at the ongoing tournament, having also claimed the honour in Nigeria’s second group match against Botswana’s Mares.
Ajibade’s consistency and influence in midfield and attack continue to be instrumental to Nigeria’s campaign as the nine-time champions pursue yet another WAFCON title.
