NLO 23: Gideon David Feels Optimistic Over Ikukuoma FC Ahead Of New Season

Gideon David, Head coach of newly promoted Ikukuoma FC has revealed optimism over the chance of the team ahead of the 2023/24 Nationwide League One (NLO) season. 

The Owerri-based club gained promotion to the Nationwide League One after they defeated Ebonyi United in the NLO 2 playoffs earlier this month. 

While speaking in an exclusive interview with BSNSports.com.ng, Gideon revealed that the team is focused and determined to achieve great results in the upcoming season. 

"Thanks, for the compliment but we are focused and determined to achieve greater results just as we did in the Nationwide League two last season, " said Gideon. 

" Firstly, the President of the club has a big passion and love for the game, so he has supported us both financially and welfare-wise." 

The former Gombe United gaffer also expressed that the team will be ready and prepared for the season because of the work that they have done.

"Our preparation for the league was adequate. we had three months camp and also played 16 preseason matches, where we lost two, drew four, and secured 10 victories."

"So, we know that we are going to face greater challenges, but we'll prepare technically and tactically because we believe in the set of players we are going to bring into the team for the upcoming season."

The Katsina-born gaffer also praised the club president, Chief Summer Nwokie for showing total support and the vision he has for the team to achieve its goals. 

"The president Chief Summer has committed to the football club. His vision shall be achieved with the help of God."

"We the technical team, the players, and the backroom staff know that gaining promotion to the NNL is our main aim. And we are going to work toward it tirelessly to achieve it."

The coach finally urged Owerri fans to keep on believing and trusting the team and that they won't let them down in the upcoming season. 

"We assure the good and sports-loving people of Owerri, that the team won't let them down in the upcoming season. We are going to make sure that our promotion to the National League One won't be for nothing."

Gideon David will be expecting to lead Ikukuoma FC to continue on their fast rising into the Nigerian football scene when the 2023/24 National League One season commences soon.
