The Nationwide League One, organizers of the U19 Youth League have announced the adoption and immediate application of physical checks and verification of players' licenses given the new season commencing on the 12th of July, BSNSports.com reports.
The purpose of introducing verification of licensing of players according to the NLO was aimed at filtering fit and eligible players who will participate in the NLO U-19 Youth League for 2023-24.
Part of the requirements for the verification process includes early arrival of players at the match venue, and having their National Identification Number (NIN) handy, to aid the verification process.
Full Statement released by NLO:
"Following the scheduled date for the commencement of the NLO U19 Youth League on Wed July 12, 2023.
"We tend to introduce physical checks of the player's license of every player participating in the NLO U19 Youth League before kickoff, and failure to produce the license to the NLO assigned Coordinator will result in the player being removed from the League.
"This check is to ensure that all players meet the age and physical eligibility requirements set by the NLO. We want to ensure that fair play is maintained throughout the competition and that all teams have an equal chance to win.
"We advise all players to be present on the 12th of July 2023 at the match venue from 8:00 am with their NIN to enable the assigned NLO Coordinator at the game venue enough time for the physical appearance, check, and license confirmation process."
The NLO also pleaded with the teams to ensure that all their players have valid and up-to-date NLO licenses for smoother operation.
