NNL: Akwa United Releases Nine Players Ahead Of Second Stanza

Akwa United have officially released nine players as part of their squad restructuring ahead of the second stanza of the 2025/2026 Nigeria National League (NNL) season, BSNSports.com.ng reports.
The players shown the exit door are Anietie Uko, Erikan Francis, Lazarus Ebuka, Itebu James, Joshua Unoro, Babatunde Omosebi, Onhanedo Onyedikachi, Emenike John, and Emmanuel Ita.
Already, some of the affected players have secured new opportunities elsewhere, with Anietie Uko joining Tanzanian outfit Mbeya Kwanza, while Erikan Francis has moved on loan to Heartland FC.
Meanwhile, the Promise Keepers have also moved swiftly to reinforce the squad, bringing in five new players as part of preparations for the second phase of the campaign.
Akwa United are targeting a stronger push in the league as the second stanza of the NNL season is scheduled to commence on February 14, 2026.
