Despite falling 2-1 to Ekiti United in the first game of the first stanza, Gateway United ends the first half of the league top of Group B1, BSNSports.com.ng can report.
Although they have Bendel Insurance breathing down their neck, Gateway United could achieve their dreams of playing in the NPFL next season should they maintain the momentum from the first stanza.
Osun United might eventually make their nightmares a reality this season with relegation steering at them.
Initially got relegated to the Nationwide League last season but somehow return to the NNL via a playoff introduced and with their current standing and poor performances lately, the Nationwide League looks like a destination.
Go-Round FC ends the first stanza top of Group B2. Although things can change should Sporting Lagos win their outstanding game against Cynosure FC but till 1st of May when they game will be played, Go-Round remain in charge and their hope of NPFL football next season could be become a reality should they maintain the momentum from the first stanza.
Warri Wolves and Rovers FC are also in the mix, what an interesting second stanza we've got ahead of us.
With no outstanding game in Group A1, Doma United ends the first stanza top with 17 points. Although closely followed by JGS and Malumfashi all the teams in the group still have a chance to pick the ticket as only 8 points separates the first from the last.
El Kanemi (18 points), City FC (18 points) ends the first stanza first and second in Group A1.
A very tight group as well where any team from 1st to 7th still stand a chance of picking the sole group ticket.
As we await the outstanding games in the Southern Conference to ascertain the final standings for the first stanza, it is no doubt that the final rounds of games will really be tough and I will indulge the management body to put the necessary requirements in place to enable us have the best and deserving teams from the NNL promote to the NPFL next season.
