NNL: Heartland FC Begins Shake-Up After Relegation

Heartland FC of Owerri have embarked on a major restructuring as they prepare for life in the Nigeria National League (NNL) next season, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

Following their relegation from the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) at the end of the 2024/2025 campaign, the Naze Millionaires have relieved three members of their technical crew of their duties.

The affected coaches include Charles Uzor, Emma Olowo, and Ike ThankGod.

A top club official, while confirming the development in Owerri on Monday, August 25, 2025, described the move as part of football’s natural cycle.

“It’s a normal thing in the game. Relieving some staff of their duties, in this case coaches, at the end of a season is not new in football. Every organisation takes stock and makes projections for the coming year,” the source explained.

“Like players, coaches move on or get sacked. Heartland will be competing in the NNL and does not require an oversized squad or bloated backroom staff.”

The restructuring is expected to continue as the club works towards stabilising in the NNL and pushing for a quick return to the top flight.
