NNL: Referee Faints, Lands In Hospital After Beaten By J. Atete Players

Players of a Nigeria National League (NNL) club J. Atete on Saturday evening beat a female referee identified as Patience Nweke from Imo state to a state of coma.


J. Atete football club is based in oil-rich Warri, Delta state.


According an eyewitness who spoke to Blueprint, the players playing their trade with the club went gaga after they lost at home to visiting Ekiti United.


The eyewitness said, “After the game which the home team lost, the players rushed her gave her several punches on the breast before she collapsed on the field and rushed to hospital.


“…her state of health unknown though reports have it that Julius Atete has rushed to the hospital to see what happened.”


Police and officials of NNL, the country’s second tier football league are yet to comment on the latest development.
