Gateway United will make a long-awaited return to their home ground, the MKO Abiola Sports Arena, Kuto, Abeokuta, this Saturday, June 7, when they host Osun United on Matchday 21 of the 2024/25 Nigeria National League (NNL) season — their final home fixture of the campaign, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

It will be the club’s first appearance at the venue in over a year, since their last outing there on April 13, 2024, ended in a goalless draw against Ikorodu City.

After navigating two stadiums this season — the Gateway International Stadium, Ilaro, during the first stanza, and Dipo Dina Stadium, Ijebu Ode, in the second — the return to Abeokuta is seen as a symbolic homecoming for the club and its fans.

Acting General Manager of Gateway United, Niyi Soleye, welcomed the development with a sense of relief and renewed hope.

“Returning to Kuto for our final home game is more than just a logistical shift — it’s a moment of reconnection,” he said.

“This is where the soul of the club resides. The fans, the energy, the history — it all comes together here. We’re proud to be back, and we want to give our supporters something to remember. However, we thank our teeming supporters in Ilaro and Ijebu Ode for their immense support. We don't take that for granted.”

He added that the team has grown stronger in adversity and will be counting on the home crowd to push them over the line.

“We urge our supporters to turn out in large numbers. Let’s make this a celebration — not just of football, but of resilience and community spirit.”

Kickoff is scheduled for 3 p.m. on Saturday at MKO Abiola Sports Arena, as Gateway United look to end their home campaign on a high and keep their survival hopes alive.
