The Nigeria National League, NNL, has directed all clubs to upgrade key infrastructure at their home stadiums ahead of the commencement of the 2025/26 season, BSNSports.com.ng reports.
The directives are part of the communique issued at the end of its 15th Annual General Meeting, which was held on Tuesday, 16th September, 2025, in Kaduna State.
The communique reads: "The NNL Annual General Meeting agreed that only stadia that meet the required NNL Stadium facilities criteria shall be approved for the 2025/2026 League season."
Recall that Saturday, 8th November 2025, was approved as the kick-off date for the 2025/26 NNL season with a star match between Lobi Stars of Makurdi and City FC of Abuja. However, other match day 1 fixtures will be played on 14th and 15th November 2025 at various venues across the country.
Also, "the AGM abolished the Super 8 play off as the final stage to determine promotion of four clubs to the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL). Henceforth, clubs that come tops in each of the four conferences shall be promoted to the NPFL.
"The AGM agreed that the Super 4 Tournament shall be organised at the end of the season to determine the overall winner of the League. The meeting added that any of the four clubs that fail to participate in the Super 4 Tournament shall automatically relinquish their promotion status to the 2nd club on the table of such Conference."
