The Nigeria National League (NNL) has rejected Rovers of Calabar’s petition, which requested the awarding of three points and three goals following their matchday five encounter with Abakaliki FC, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

Rovers claimed that Abakaliki FC fielded an unregistered player, Johnson Umeh. However, the NNL concluded that the allegation could not be substantiated with sufficient evidence.

Further investigation revealed that Umeh did not participate in the match, and his name was absent from the NNL’s registration portal.

In addition, the league imposed a fine of N500,000 on Abakaliki FC for improper interference by their chairman and officials in the technical area during the game.

Another N500,000 fine was levied for allowing an unauthorized individual to wear the team’s official jersey and enter the technical area.

Both Rovers FC and Abakaliki FC have 48 hours from the notice date to appeal the fines.
