NNL Super 8: Kano Pillars, Katsina Utd Pick NPFL Tickets

Kano Pillars, Sporting FC of Lagos, Heartland FC and Katsina United on Wednesday have picked the four Nigeria Premier Football League tickets in the just-concluded Nigeria National League play-offs in Asaba,, BSNSports.com.ng can report.

Three (Kano Pillars, Heartland FC and Katsina United) out of the four qualified teams were relegated to the second tier league at the end of the 2022/23 NPFL season and today staged their remarkable comebacks after just one season in the Nigeria National League (NNL). 

Kano Pillars were pitted in the Northern Conference group alongside, EFCC FC of Abuja and DMD of Maiduguri. However, Kano Pillars ended as group winners with six points having defeated EFCC FC (1-0) and DMD FC before losing to Katsina United in their last group game on Wednesday.

EFCC FC who stunned Katsina United in the second group match could not complete the job on the final MatchDay after losing scandalously to the lowly-rated DMD FC.

On its part, Katsina United finsihed second with 6 points but lesser goal difference compared to Kano Pillars. Katsina United defeated DMD FC in their group opener and Kano Pillars in last game.

In the Southern Conference, Sporting FC won their first two games and were the first team to qualify but lost 0-1 to Heartland FC on last MatchDay. Heartland FC drew 0-0 with Stormers FC in their game before handing a defeat to FC One Rockets in the second match before the Imo state based club defeated Sporting FC in last match.
