NNL Super 8: Inter Lagos Stand Chance To Pick NPFL Ticket - Gabriel Ezema

Precious Oham

Head Coach of Inter Lagos, Gabriel Ezema said his team stand a wonderful chance to pick the NPFL ticket after securing qualification to the NNL Super 8, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

Inter Lagos sealed the qualification to the NNL Super 8 after a comfortable two-nil win over Ijebu United in their final group game in the Southern Conference at the Legacy Pitch in Lagos.

Ezema said he is satisfied to have picked the maximum points and secured the qualification ticket despite putting in an average performance in the game.

"I think we stand a wonderful chance. We just need to come up with the quality of performances we have been putting, an improved version of it and that will count a lot for us. I think we will go through it. We have what it takes and the consistency to be able to grind results.

"It was slightly above average but the most important thing is grinding the result even on days that are not so wonderful. We didn't play as one would expect us to play. This is not our actual home ground and the psychological aspect surrounding this game also. All those things might have played out but we did a bit above average which is good for us."

The Super 8 is organised annually at the end of the league to determine the overall champion of the second-tier League as well as teams that will gain promotion to the elite league.

The eight teams that have already qualified for the championship are; Nasarawa Utd, Sporting Supreme of Abuja, Sokoto Utd and El-Kanemi Warriors, Beyond Limit FC, Madiba FC, Inter Lagos and Ikorodu City.

The competition will be held from June 7-14, 2024 in Enugu.
