The Nigeria National League (NNL) has formally warned Prudential Sports Limited regarding the unauthorized presentation of a “Man of the Match” award to Doma United FC midfielder Yakubu Kenneth, BSNSports.com.ng has sourced.

This incident occurred following an NNL match between Doma United FC and Yobe Desert Stars.

In a statement released by the League Board, the NNL acknowledged Prudential Sports’ intentions to motivate players and promote their brand.

However, they expressed disapproval of the company's failure to adhere to proper protocols.

The League emphasized that all commercial rights related to NNL matches solely belong to the league organizers, as detailed in the league’s rules and international best practices.

The NNL also pointed out that Prudential Sports’ actions could undermine existing partnerships and potentially expose the league to legal disputes with its commercial partners.

“As a league, we view this as a deliberate disruption of our established partnerships, which have the right to take legal action if this continues,” the statement read.

The NNL has requested that Prudential Sports Limited halt any further awards or activities associated with league matches until a formal agreement is reached with the league organizers.

The League Board reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding the interests of its partners and ensuring compliance with its regulations.

This situation underscores the importance of respecting commercial agreements within professional sports and following appropriate channels for sponsorships and promotions.
