NO MORE IMC! NFF Names Elegbeleye As Chairman Nigeria Premier League Board
By Gbenga Gboyega
The Nigeria Premier League has moved a step further in its evolution bid by setting up the much anticipated Nigeria Premier Football League board, with the Interim Management Committee reportedly translated to a permanent board, BSNSports.com.ng writes.
The Interim Management Committee (IMC) came into existence on the nation's independence anniversary, last year, precisely the 1st of October 2022, following the disbandment of the League Management Committee (LMC) due to mismanagement and shortcomings recorded.
In the wake of the new reign of Ibrahim Gusau, the current President of the Nigeria Football Federation, the vacuum created needed a committee to run the affairs of domestic football in Nigeria, hence the inauguration of the Hon. Gbenga Elegbeleye-led board.
Nine months on, the league organizers have translated the Interim Committee into a more permanent status quo which will still have Hon. Gbenga as the Chairman, with Davidson Owunmi and Barrister Danlami Ibrahim as Chief Operating Officer and Secretary/ Legal Adviser respectively alongside.
According to renowned Sports Broadcasters and Analyst, Mayowa Kufile, the newly appointed board will also consist of the likes of Bayelsa's FA Chairman - Barrister Poubeni Ogun, Super Eagles legend - Daniel Amokachi, NPL Club Owners Association Chairman - Dr. Okey Kpalukwu, Doma United's Owner - Suleiman Umar, and Nigerian ex-international - Dominic Lorfa, as fellow members of the board.
