NOA President, Olumide Congratulates Minister of Sports on Chieftaincy Title

President, Nigeria Olympians Association, Olumide Oyedeji has congratulated Minister of Sports, Sunday Dare on his chieftaincy title as Sarki Wassannin.

The Honourable Minister of Sports and Youth Development, Sunday Akinlabi Dare last Thursday was crowned with the prestigious Chieftaincy Title of Sarkin Wassannin Hausa (King/Leader of Approved Sports in Hausa land) by the Daura Emirate Council led by the Emir of Daura, Alhaji (Dr) Umar Farouk Umar, CON.

At the historic coronation ceremony held at his Palace in Daura, the Emir said that the conferment was in recognition of the Minister's glowing contributions to nation building through grassroots sports development in the country.

The former D'Tigers captain and Third Vice President of Nigeria Olympic Committee (NOC) Oyedeji stated Dare's contributions to sports development in Nigeria deserve recognition applauding Emir of Daura of bestowing the title on on him.

He added that the conferment was further in recognition of the Minister's commitment to the implementation of Sports and Youth Initiatives as well as other laudable projects and policies put together by the present Administration through the Ministry of Sports.

Chairman, Nigeria Athletes Commission further stated that Dare has made it possible for the Administration of President Muhammadu Buhari to be able to reposition the sports sector by giving it a new lease of life which led to the refurbishing of several sporting facilities across the country including National Stadium, Surulere,

Obafemi Awolowo Stadium, Ile Ife, Osun State, Ahmadu Bello Stadium, Kaduna, as well as the Daura Township Stadium in Daura, Katsina State, among others
