Sampson Adedeji
Rivers United’s title hopes took a hit on Friday as they fell 2-0 to Kano Pillars at the Sani Abacha Stadium, BSNSports.com.ng reports.
Ahmed Musa, former Super Eagles captain, and veteran midfielder Rabiu Ali both found the net for the Sai Masu Gida in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) Matchday 35 clash.
Musa broke the deadlock for Kano Pillars in the 64th minute, while Ali secured the win with a penalty 14 minutes from time.
The victory strengthens Kano Pillars' push for a continental spot.
With Rivers United slipping, Remo Stars now have a clear path to a historic first league title if they beat Niger Tornadoes in Ikenne on Sunday.
