NPFL: Akinade Onigbinde Disappointed With Doma United Loss To Dakkada

By Niyi Busari

Doma United head coach, Akinade Onigbinde was disappointed with his team inability to pick maximum points at Dakkada to further boost their chances of playing at the Nigeria Professional Football League Super Six, BSNSports.com.ng can report.

Doma United have been impressive in their last three matches (winning two and drew one) and lost three in their last 9 NPFL games and are 19 points tied with second placed Rivers United.

However, a win or draw at Dakkada would have moved the Gombe based team to leapfrog the champions, Rivers United to second on the log.

Commenting, Onigbinde said his team didn't deserve to lose such opportunity to boost their chance of climbing to second on the league table. He however shifted his focus on the next game against Wikki Tourists.

"It was painful not to pick at least a point in their encounter to further boost our chances of finishing top three in the league." Onigbinde told BSN Sports.

"That is football, we will continue to remain focused on the target of finishing among the top three teams in the our group with aim of picking maximum points in our next match against Wikki Tourists." He added.

It took a stunning rebound from Mmekutmfon Udosen to separate the sides in a close game at Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, Uyo as the Tigers stuffers first defeat in the second stanza of the season.

Dakkada took the lead during the second-half after having mounted much pressure on Doma United defense, the goal finally came from a rebound that gave Kingdom no chance.

Akinade Onigbinde made some changes to the side that had won at home against Niger Tornadoes last weekend.

There was no Usman Musa today who didn’t travel with the team, so Paschal came in and Auwalu Abubakar was handed a start with Maurice Chigozie moving to the bench.

The Tigers will be at the Pantami Stadium in midweek, for the Gombe State FA Cup final tie against NPFL counterparts, Gombe United. The match is slated for Wednesday at 3:30pm.

Doma next NPFL outing will be a Northeastern derby on Sunday 16th April, at home to Wikki Tourists.
