The head coach of Akwa United Deji Ayeni has said his target this season is to return the club to the continent, BSNSports.com.ng has gathered.

He made the statement during a post-match conference involving his team and Nasarawa United.

He said the club management gave him a target of taking the team back to the continent and he also praised the players for their resilience in the game.

"Nigeria league has got to a level at which if you prepare physically and mentally well, you can go anywhere and get your points.

Bendel Insurance came to our house and shocked us 2-0 and we decided to put ourselves together and start getting our point along the road.

I have a lot of positives from this game but the most important thing is the victory.

The target the management gave to me is to return to the continent and we can achieve it.

One can see the resilience and doggedness of the players and I appreciate it."

Akwa United defeated host Nasarawa United 3-0 in a Matchday 3 fixture of the league played at the New Jos Stadium on Sunday.
