Despite falling 2-1 to rivals Enyimba International in a tense local derby, Abia Warriors head coach Imama Amapakabo remains confident his side can still secure a continental ticket, BSNSports.com.ng reports.
The defeat did little to dampen the optimism of the former NPFL title-winning coach, who guided Rangers to the championship in the 2015/2016 season.
Abia Warriors, based in Umuahia, remain firmly in contention with 50 points and six matches left to play.
“Every team has a chance to qualify for the continent,” Amapakabo stated.
“Before this game, we had 21 points to fight for. Now we’ve got 18 left. We already have 50 points. Every team can dream.”
“We’ll keep working hard and pushing. Let’s see where these final 18 points take us by the end of the season", he said.
Following Matchday 32, Abia Warriors sit third in the NPFL standings, holding onto a crucial spot in the race for continental competition.
