Forward Andy Okpe has opened up on the reason he stopped playing for the Nigeria Premier Football League side Rivers United, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

Okpe was one of the outstanding players for the Pride of Rivers last season after he joined them from Remo Stars.

He received several offers from top teams from the continent and some from Europe but the deal stalled due to financial breakdown.

The lanky attacker, via his social media handle, said Rivers United is asking for too much money and scaring his suitors away.

" For those of you asking why am I not playing for Rivers United F. C. This season. They have been making it difficult for me to travel abroad and make good money,”

Okpe revealed on X. “I told them already I’m done playing for them. I worked hard to get to this level I am. They should accept the offer and let me go.”
