NPFL: Ayeni Target Continental Slot With Akwa United
Sampson Adedeji
Newly appointed Akwa United gaffer, Deji Ayeni, has set his eyes on securing the continental football for the club at the end of the season, BSNsports.com.ng gathered.
Ayeni was appointed to take charge of the Promise Keepers on Thursday after Kennedy Boboye left the club few weeks ago.
While speaking on his appointment, Ayeni made it clear that they needed to have the right mentality to achieve the set objective
" Akwa United have never done badly to the level at which we taught we can't get it right. Something constant in life is change, so when the change comes, a lot of things will change."
"First thing is that the spirit of winning mentality has to come back into the team. I can assure you that with every game and kind of brand the club is, we have to go back to it and everyone has to be smiling again and believe the team has come to stay for a better future. I believe at the end of the season, we will get that continent slot." He said.
Akwa United played in the preliminary round of the CAF champions league this season before crashing out to CR Belouzidad.
