Bendel Insurance head coach, Kennedy Boboye, has been handed a 17-match suspension and fined ₦2 million by the Nigeria Professional Football League for misconduct during a league fixture against Plateau United, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

The sanction follows Boboye’s actions toward a match official, which the league body described as “gross misconduct” and a clear violation of the principles of fair play and discipline.

The incident occurred during the heated encounter between Bendel Insurance and Plateau United, prompting disciplinary review by the NPFL authorities.

The lengthy suspension means Boboye will be absent from the dugout for a significant portion of the season, dealing a major blow to Bendel Insurance’s technical setup as they continue their campaign.

The NPFL reiterated its commitment to maintaining discipline and respect for match officials, warning that any breach of conduct will attract strict penalties.
