NPFL: Deutsch Wants Sunshine Stars Squad Size Reduced, Club Go On 2-Weeks Break

Sampson Adedeji

The Coach of Nigeria Professional Football League club Sunshine Stars Emmanuel Deutsch has canvassed for a reduction in the size of the playing staff of the club, BSNsports.com.ng has gathered.

The Cameroonian gaffer made the statements while addressing the management on Monday as the players embark on a two weeks break.

He said the players were too much and it makes it difficult for proper training and match execution.

Deutsch advised the management to do something about it ahead of the new season while also promising that he will submit his report to them.

_"Sunshine management did fantastically well in terms of welfare and motivation. No owing of salaries and bonuses. It is very good. This team could have achieved a lot but I already told you that you will play better towards the end of the season because I joined in the mid-season.

"It will take time for players that I didn't recruit to adjust to my philosophy, but you can see we understand ourselves better towards the end."

"I want to advise that the size of the squad be reduced to make the job easier, and players should be signed only on merit and with these success is guaranteed.

"I will still come up with my end-of-the-season report. Thank you," The Cameroonian tactician noted.

Meanwhile, the players are expected to resume back in training on the 22nd of August to start preparations for the 2022/2023 league season.
