NPFL: Expect Improved Performance From Akwa United Soon - Coach Ayeni
Sampson Adedeji
Akwa United manager, Deji Ayeni, has promised the fans and supporters of the club to expect an improved performance from the team soon, BSNsports.com.ng report.
Since joining the team, Ayeni has guided the Promise Keepers to 2 draws against Rivers United and Kano Pillars.
As they prepared to face Shooting Stars in the matcday 22 at the Goodswill Akpabio stadium in Uyo, the former Sunshine Stars gaffer has said they return to their position soon.
“I must say that I have seen my players responding positively and playing according to instructions. They put up a strong and wonderful performance and came out with a point in two successive games. All I can say is that it can only get better as far as we continue with this mentality.
“We went into the two matches with the hope of winning and my player knew what was at stake and they worked hard throughout the match. We need to continue addressing all the observed lapses, especially concerning our finishing and that is how we will move out of where we are at the moment.
“With these two matches we have played, I can say that I know the strength of each player in the team and I’m satisfied that we are improving gradually and I’m optimistic that we are going to get it right soon enough," he said.
Akwa United who won the league last season are currently occupying 9th position with 29 points in 21 games.
