NPFL: Finidi Frustrated By Late Goal Against El Kanemi Warriors
Sampson Adedeji
Rivers United head coach, Finidi George, has expressed disappointment over his team conceding a goal in their 2-1 victory against El Kanemi Warriors, BSNSports.com.ng reports.
The Pride of Rivers took a commanding 2-0 lead in Borno, but the hosts pulled one back late on to make the scoreline more respectable.
Despite the setback, Finidi commended his players for their resilience.
"I'm happy with the win. It was a tough game, especially in the first half," he said in his post-match press conference.
"The weather was challenging, playing at 3 pm under the hot sun. But in the second half, as it cooled down a bit, we found our rhythm and scored two quality goals.
"We could have scored more. At some point, we needed better communication to protect our lead. Conceding that late goal was frustrating."
The coach emphasized the importance of keeping a clean sheet, especially at this stage of the season.
"We’re chasing goals, but we also need to be solid at the back. Conceding a cheap goal like that was disappointing. Still, the most important thing is that we got the three points."
"Even though I’m not happy about the late goal, I’m delighted we secured the win. Travelling this far and returning with a victory is a fantastic result for the team."
