The assistant coach of Akwa United, Uma Abdullahi, has narrated how they were able to secure the much-needed win against Kano Pillars, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

The Promise Keepers secured their first victory of the season against Pillars and did enough to curtail the Super Eagles striker Ahmed Musa, who had been on splendid form with the Kano-based side.

The gaffer said they identified their problem from the last game and rectified it. We are grateful that the needed boost we were expecting has finally come.

“Honestly, it was frustrating playing five matches without a win and in Sunday’s game the boys approached the game with a winning mentality, and it paid off for us,” Abdullahi stated in a post-match interview.

“I want to say that in the previous matches we played, goal scoring was a major challenge, and we noticed it, and we worked on that aspect of our game during our training sessions."

Akwa United will face Rangers in their next NPFL game on Wednesday.
