NPFL: How Coach Onigbinde Charges Doma United To Outsmart Resurgent Bayelsa United

By Gbenga Gboyega

Head coach of Doma United, Akinade Onigbinde half-time pep talk with the players in the dug-out did the wonder as his boys came out of their shells to pick maximum points at the Pantami Stadium on Sunday, BSNSports.com.ng can report.

Gombe-based Doma United got one better over Bayelsa United with a 2-0 victory at home on Sunday afternoon, with the slim victory placing the home side in second place at the end of matchday 15.

The game which went down at the Pantami stadium in Gombe started on a physical note with Bayelsa's Adamu Yazid getting into the referee's yellow book as early as the half-hour mark.

The first half ended in a stalemate with both teams threading with caution and relying on a mistake from each other to steal the show.

Doma came into the game, winning only twice in their last five outings, including losses to Lobi and Dakkada, risking dropping off the top three spots with Niger Tornadoes in fourth only two points behind.

The pep talk at the break by head coach Akinade Onigbinde must have worked magic as it took eight minutes into the second half for Charles Chibuike to open the scoring in the 53rd minute, thereby changing the course of the game.

Ekawu Hilari then doubled the lead ten minutes later against the run of play as Bayelsa who had won their last three games on the bounce struggled to find their footing.

The game ended with Doma getting all maximum points at home to sit two points above Rivers United in 3rd who have two games in hand.
