NPFL: Kano Pillars Fans Attack Match Officials, Shooting Stars Players After 1-1 Draw

There was chaos at the Sani Abacha Stadium in Kano on Sunday as Kano Pillars fans attacked match officials and players of Shooting Stars following their 1-1 draw in the Matchday 8 fixture of the Nigeria Premier Football League, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

The tension began after Pillars had a late goal ruled out for offside a decision that infuriated the home supporters. At the final whistle, angry fans invaded the pitch, pelting objects and chasing match officials and opposing players.

Shooting Stars players and technical crew were also attacked before security operatives intervened and escorted them out of the stadium to safety.

The incident is expected to draw serious sanctions from the NPFL board, as the league continues to grapple with crowd violence and poor security at match venues.
