NPFL: Pillars Lose Point Deduction Appeal
Sampson Adedeji
Kano Pillars have failed in their attempt to overturn a three-point and three-goal deduction after the Appeals Committee of the Nigeria Football Federation upheld the sanctions imposed earlier this season, BSNSports.com.ng reports.
The committee met via Zoom on Friday to review the club’s protest as the former champions sought relief from the punishment to boost their relegation survival push. However, the panel ruled that the initial decision would stand.
The sanctions were handed down following crowd disturbances during Pillars’ Matchday 8 home fixture against Shooting Stars Sports Club at the Sani Abacha Stadium in October 2025.
In response to the incidents, the Nigeria Premier Football League deducted three points and three goals from the club’s tally, imposed fines totalling ₦9.5 million, and ordered the indefinite closure of the stadium.
The league cited serious regulatory breaches, including the assault of match officials, as justification for the penalties.
The upheld decision leaves Pillars in a more precarious position on the table as they battle to avoid relegation.
