The concluding fixtures of the Nigeria Professional Football League, NPFL, were played across different venues in the country on Sunday, BSNSports.com.ng reports.
Five home victories and two draws with a total of 11 goals were recorded during the seven games played.
At the Ilorin township stadium, it was Nelson Esor that gave the Pride of Rivers early but the two second half goals from Samad Kadiri and Jide Fatokun handed the River based team a defeat.
Elsewhere, in the Oriental derby, Heartland picked a crucial 2-1 victory over Abia Warriors at the Dan Anyiam stadium.
Murphy Ndukwu and Nonso Nzediegwu scored for the Naze Millionaires, while Godwin Obaje scored for Imama Amapakabo's men.
Remo Stars defeat Wikki Tourists courtesy Lekan Adebayo's goal, while Destiny Ashadi's first NPFL goal in four years handed Katsina United all three points against Akwa United.
In the relegation six-pointer in Makurdi, it was Lobi Stars who got the better of Nasarawa United. The home side raced to a two-goal lead through Godfrey Utim and Ifeanyi Ogba before Michael Tochukwu halved the deficit from the spot late on.
MFM's relegation woes got compounded as Rangers held them to a goalless draw at the Teslim Balogun Stadium on Sunday.Â
Another derby at Akure between Sunshine Stars and Shooting Stars at the Akure township stadium ended in a stalemate like the first leg in Ibadan.
It was Shooting Stars first point on the road after their last one nil victory over MFM in January.
Shooting Stars’ first attempt for goal was in the 17th minute from Archibong Utibe’s wide range header.
