NPFL: Lobi Stars Players Yet To Receive Four Months Unpaid Salaries
By Emmanuel Chinedu
According to report, Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) clubs that are found to be indebted to players or club officials stand the risk of not being allowed to complete their registration for the 2023/24 season.
However, in this case, it is the opposite side, as the current situation going on over the last five months as Lobi Stars management, are yet to pay the players their four months' unpaid salaries owed to them since May.
According to a former player of the club, who doesn't want his name to be mentioned, he expressed his frustration over the ongoing situation, which has been happening at the club since May.
"Yes, I think since May, we haven't received any salaries from the club management, " said the player.
"It's either the Governor is not around or his deputy is not around."
"We played and qualified for the NPFL Championship playoff in Lagos, but to date, nothing has been done."
It was reported that the Governor of Benue State, Rev Fr Dr. Hyacenth Iormen Alia, was on Tuesday, 22nd August 2023, held a crucial meeting with Lobi Stars management, staff, and players at the VIP stand of Aper Aku Stadium, Makurdi, alongside other football stakeholders, to chart a way forward and modalities aiming at helping the club grow stronger.
