The head coach of the Enugu Rangers, Abdu Maikaba, has refused to blame his players for their defeat to Rivers United, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

The Flying Antelopes on Wednesday suffered a 1-0 defeat to the Nigeria champions in the rescheduled match of the league.

While reacting about the result, Maikaba confirmed that both sides played a good match and hope to get

better result in the second stanza of the league.

"Both sides showcased good football. If not for the mistake of the referee I don't think we would have conceded that goal because it's our foul but it gave it the other way but even with that we supposed to have equalised.

"It's not our day, the boys played very well and I believed it's a sign of improvement going into the second round.

"Going into Super 6 will not be an easy task but if 9 games in the first round can give us 10 points i think we can do better in the second round playing the same number of matches", he said.
