NPFL: Mirzo Eyes Goal Record

Bayelsa United striker, Roberto Mirzo, has set his eyes on surpassing the Nigeria Premier Football League goal record held by Mfon Udoh, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

The current 23-goal record was set by former Enyimba forward, Mfon Udoh, in 2014 and Mirzo is currently on 10 goals in 12 games for Bayelsa United this season.

While speaking to the Punch Correspondent, Mirzo admitted that his priority is to ensure that Bayelsa survives relegation and finishes the season in a respectable position.

“For me, it’s zero competition. Like I always say, I just want to be better than last season and also help my team Bayelsa United get out of the relegation zone.

If I keep scoring, and we keep defending well, we will survive.

“Mathematically, the record is achievable, and even for any other goal scorer in the league at the moment.

"That is another motivation to do better because when you break the existing one, you set a new one.

The first half of the season is not over yet, let us see how I’m able to push that and we will see properly by the second half of the season,” he added.
