The coach of Rivers United, Finidi George, has said his players were a bit nervous against Kano Pillars in the game played in Port-Harcout on Sunday, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

The Pride of Rivers secured a 1-0 win over the hard-fighting Sai Masu Gida, and Finidi said his players were nervous instead of pushing for a second goal.

" We are happy for the victory which was a difficult game".

" The first half, we created one or two chances, but in the second half, the team was a little bit nervous trying to hold on to the only goal instead of going for the second".

" At the tail of the game we pushed back to see how we can preserve the lead", he said

The win returned Rivers United to the league summit with 29 points from 15 matches.
