NPFL: Ndidi Reflects On Besiktas’ Painful Loss To Fenerbahce
Sampson Adedeji
Super Eagles midfielder Wilfred Ndidi has shared his thoughts following Besiktas’ dramatic 3-2 defeat to Fenerbahce, BSNSports.com.ng reports.
The Black Eagles appeared to be in full control after racing to a two-goal lead through Bilal Touré and Emirhan Topcu.
However, their momentum was halted when Orkun Kökçü was sent off for a reckless challenge in the 25th minute.
Fenerbahce made the most of the numerical advantage, with İsmail Yüksek, Marco Asensio, and Jhon Duran all finding the back of the net to complete a remarkable comeback.
Speaking after the game, Ndidi admitted that the red card was the turning point.
“The match was going well for us. We knew we had to give our best, and we even went 2-0 up. But after the red card, the game changed, and they gained momentum,” Ndidi told the club’s official website.
He also urged unity among the squad and supporters as they look to recover from the setback.
“We wanted to stay in the match because we know we have quality. But we need to stay together players and fans alike. With unity, we can still achieve great things this season.”
