NPFL: Niger State Threatens Withdrawal Of Tornadoes Over Alleged Unfair Treatment

The Niger State Sports Commission has threatened to withdraw Niger Tornadoes Football Club from the ongoing Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL), citing what it described as “unfair and unjust treatment” of the club, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

Chairman of the Commission, Danjuma Abdullahi Masu, condemned the decision to reschedule Tornadoes’ home matches to other states, alleging that the move was politically motivated, personal, and driven by selfish interests.

He called for an immediate reversal of the decision, arguing that the issue cited poor camera viewing conditions can be resolved within a week.

Speaking to a Guardian correspondent, Masu insisted that the Niger State Stadium is superior to at least 10 other stadiums across the country, adding that political interference in sports administration is unacceptable.

He further urged authorities to stop politicising football and instead focus on putting proper structures in place to strengthen sports development in Nigeria.
