NPFL: Ogunbote Downplays Title Contender Status
Sampson Adedeji
After an impressive away draw against Plateau United, coach Gbenga Ogunbote has commended his players for their resilience throughout the match, BSNSports.com.ng reports.
Despite facing heavy pressure from the home side, the Oluyole Warriors held firm to secure a valuable point on the road.
Ogunbote, however, played down the title contender label being placed on his team, emphasizing that every team still has a chance to win the league.
"If we had capitalized on our advantage today, maybe it would have been a different outcome, but even so, a point on the road is a good result," he said in an interview with the club's media team.
"It would have been disastrous if we conceded a second goal. Plateau United showed a strong killer instinct, as you saw in the way they attacked. We were careless, and they capitalized on it to score, pushing hard for a second goal."
"We still have 17 games to go, and at this point, no one has won it, and no one has lost it. Every team in the Premier League has an equal chance of winning," he concluded.
