NPFL: Rangers Match Against Wikki Tourists, A Must Win - Tope By Our Reporter
After the weekend’s big loss to the ‘Tin City’ side, Plateau United F.C in Jos, captain of the ‘Flying Antelopes’, Tope Olusesi has promised the teeming fans of the club that he and his team mates were condemned to work out a win against visiting Wikki Tourists F.C in a match day 31 fixture slated for Awka.
The encounter which will come up on Wednesday, June 1st, 2022 at the Awka City Stadium is a ‘Must Win’ as stated by the vastly experienced defender as he stated that they have put behind them the loss in Jos and focused towards earning a win that will put back on track the club’s aspirations for the season.
“Surely, we have put the embarrassing loss in Jos behind us and focused on the game against Wikki Tourists to enhance our chances in the league this season. We will work hard to get the vital win even when we know that Wikki is not a small team. We appreciate how disappointing the weekend was for all of our followers and supporters and will use the midweek encounter to get back to winning ways and put smiles back on their faces,†said the hard-as-nails attacking full-back.
The midweek fixture will be the 25th time both sides will be clashing in the top flight with the ‘Flying Antelopes’ having a big edge over the ‘Big Elephants’ with eleven wins, five losses and eight drawn matches.
In the last fixture between both teams inside the A.T.B stadium, Bauchi on February 6, 2022, it was a barren draw with coach Kabiru Dogo of the Bauchi side ruing opportunities that his wards failed to take while coach Abdul Maikaba praised his players for a job well done and will be looking to having a better game in Awka this mid-week.

The game against Wikki Tourists will be tough but we have our work cut out to get a win and push clear of the chasing teams. I believe we shall get the result we desire at the end of the match.â€
