Sampson Adedeji

Head coach of Rivers United, Finidi George, has expressed optimism about his team’s title chances despite their narrow defeat to Shooting Stars, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

The Pride of Rivers suffered a 2–1 loss in the encounter but put up a spirited performance throughout the match.

Speaking after the game, Finidi admitted the result was disappointing but insisted the team would work on their mistakes ahead of their next fixture.

“We lost, we will go back and make a few corrections. We just have to continue to encourage the players to express themselves properly before the next game,” Finidi told the club’s media.

The former Nigeria international also maintained that the team remains confident of sustaining their push for the Nigeria Professional Football League title.

“We are quite optimistic as the season proceeds,” he added.

Despite the defeat, Rivers United remain top of the league table with 52 points.
