NPFL: Rivers United, Remo Stars Share Spoils In Season Opener

Rivers United and reigning champions Remo Stars settled for a 1-1 draw in the curtain-raiser of the 2025/26 Nigeria Premier Football League season, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

The clash lived up to its billing, with both sides showing intent from the start. Rivers United struck first through Aniekeme Okon in the third minute, but Remo Stars’ new signing Victor Mbaoma quickly restored parity six minutes later.

The game turned tense in stoppage time when Rivers United defender Temple Emekayi was shown a red card, leaving the visitors to finish with ten men.

All other matchday one fixtures are scheduled for Sunday.

Kwara United will host Rivers United while NPFL newcomers, Kun Khalifa visit Remo Stars in the 2025/26 NPFL season.
