Former Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) champions, Rivers United, climbed to second place on the table after securing a narrow victory over Katsina United, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

Ubong Friday netted the decisive goal for the hosts in the 17th minute.

The match, initially disrupted by a heavy downpour on Thursday night, resumed on Friday morning for the second half.

With this win, Rivers United now have 42 points from 26 matches.

Finidi George’s men will face Shooting Stars next at the Lekan Salami Stadium, Adamasingba, Ibadan, on Monday.
