As preparations intensify for the 2025/2026 Nigeria Premier Football League season, Rivers United have entered into discussions with experienced Super Eagles midfielder John Ogu, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

Sources from the club's camp confirm that the 37-year-old is currently in talks with the former NPFL champions regarding a potential move.

Rivers United are aiming to bolster their midfield ahead of a campaign that will include continental competition, and they believe Ogu’s vast experience could prove vital.

The defensive midfielder last featured for Israeli second-division side Maccabi Jaffa.

Ogu began his professional journey with Akwa Starlets before securing a move to Slovenian outfit Drava Ptuj in September 2006.
