NPFL: Shooting Stars Coach Eyes Winning Start

Shooting Stars head coach, Nurudeen Aweroro, has stressed the importance of starting the new Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season on a winning note, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

The Oluyole Warriors will kick off their 2025/26 campaign on Sunday when they host Bayelsa United at the Lekan Salami Stadium, Adamasingba, Ibadan.

The clash will mark Aweroro’s first official game in charge of the five-time NPFL champions, and the former Ikorodu City boss has challenged his players to rise to the occasion.

 “We must secure maximum points, and if possible, score plenty of goals. But above all, the most important thing is to win. We cannot afford to take this game lightly we have to start strong and give everything,” Aweroro told the club’s media team.

The NPFL season commenced on Friday with defending champions Remo Stars playing out a 1-1 draw against Rivers United at the Moshood Abiola Sports Arena, Abeokuta.
