NPFL: We Want To Make A Strong Statement This Season Again - Duru

Ahead of their Matchday 3 fixture against Niger Tornadoes, Ebube Duru has again underlined the readiness of Rivers United to make a strong statement this season, BSNSports.com.ng report.

The Pride of Rivers emerged as the winner of the 2021/2022 Nigeria Professional Football League for the first time in its history.

Since the start of the 2023 season, they are yet to lose any game and drew 1-1 against Sunshine Stars draw on Matchday 2 in Akure.

Speaking ahead of the crucial game against Tornadoes, Duru acknowledged the toughness of the league this season but believed in their capability to break even again.

" It's a very tough and important one for us, a win will take us to the top of the table and the league is getting tougher, teams are going away to pick points and as the defending champions we have to make a statement.

So, I think is a very crucial one for us but the motivation and awareness of the game and the attitude in camp are very encouraging and every player is looking towards the game I believe that by God's grace, we will come out strong and get 3 points.

We are not under pressure because we know we are playing at home, either home or away we play a unique style of football, so I think we will get the 3 points", he said.
