NPFL: We Want To Return To The Continent - Rivers United Coach

By Sampson Adedeji

The head coach of Rivers United Evans Ogenyi has insisted that their target is to return to the continent, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

The Pride of Rivers could not go beyond the quarter-final of the CAF Confederation Cup last and this season but the coach confirmed that they are ready to go back.

Rivers United secured an emphatic 4-1 win over Sporting Lagos on Sunday and Ogenyi attributed the feat to the players utilizing their chances.

" It was a thrilling encounter, we are aware that this is one of the 3 home games we are going to play and we've told the players that we must finish in a respectable position.

We lost to them in Lagos and we've also lost 4 of the rescheduled games we determined to win today's game convincingly because goal difference might count at the end of the day.

Sporting Lagos is a good team but we took our chances.

We want to finish the league strongly and we are focusing on the Federation Cup.

I have done it before, The FA Cup is the shortest way to the continent except if a miracle happens, we know we will not get the continental ticket in the league.

It's our dream to play in the continent because Rivers United is a brand and we want to go back to the continent", he said.
