NPFL: Why Eguma Chose To Remain With Enyimba Despite Offers From Rival Clubs

Enyimba International head coach Stanley Eguma has explained why he decided to continue with the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) giants despite receiving offers from other clubs, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

Eguma, who joined the People’s Elephant midway through last season, helped guide the team to a solid finish, earning praise from the club’s management.

"At the end of last season, several clubs approached me, but Enyimba is the biggest club in Nigeria. When a club of this magnitude wants you to stay, it's hard to say no,” Eguma said. “Even though we didn’t win the league or secure a continental ticket, the management appreciated the work I did.”

He also revealed that a specific clause in his contract gave Enyimba the right of first refusal at the end of the season.

“There was a clause that allowed Enyimba to negotiate with me first before I could speak with any other team. So, even when other offers came in, I was already in talks with Enyimba, and I’m happy to remain here,” he added.

“I know the terrain well now, the club is satisfied with my performance, and I’m confident in the decision I made.”

Notably, Eguma previously served as assistant to coach Okey Emordi during Enyimba’s historic CAF Champions League triumph in 2004.
